Zhongshan Exhibition Area

UrbanEyes recently completed a market-focused masterplan that comprises a cultural retail and entertainment street, commercial and office complexes, residential apartments and a convention and exhibition centre along the coastline where there is a major public transport hub with regional ferry and metro services that connect to Hong Kong, Macau and the rest of Guangdong Province.

The Hong Kong listed property developer entrusted the team to review the previous design prepared by the famous Chicago based architecture firm which has already been approved by the government, in terms of market feasibility and the potential return on investment. It also needed to resolve the complicated and disjointed multi-modal transport system along the new waterfront through the creation of an integrated TOD-plus sports and leisure.

Under the new masterplan, a clear market catchment and customer target needed to be identified to determine the development types, value and return, as well as appreciation of the local culture, which became the key design identity, while ensuring an effective, efficient and safe transport system especially during peak times and major event days at the convention centre and exhibition.
