The Hainan Dongfang Sugar Refinery was acquired by the client after cessation of operation due to the declining sugar industry on the island. Themed around the past heritage and local community aspirations, the regeneration concept aims to transform the economic function of the site from industry to servicing and retail with a focus on the local healthcare sectors. The integration of traditional wellness facilities will reconnect with the locals and provide new opportunities which would accelerate regeneration and improve lives in the area.
